SAMI, KEFALONIA | A PHOTO DIARY

Hey everyone!

Greece is one of my favourite places to visit. There are so many islands to explore. This time round I visited the beautiful island of Kefalonia in the Ionian Sea.

We stayed in Sami, a port in the east of the island. It's a great location with lots of nearby things to do. The main attractions being the beautiful Antisamos Beach, where Captain Corellis Mandolin was filmed. Melissani Cave, and the Island of Ithaca are also a short journey away.

We stayed in Hotel Pericles, about ten minutes out of Sami. It was a very simple hotel, but had everything we needed, including a free breakfast. Below is a picture of the view we had.

Most restaurants in Sami are at the harbours edge, Adonis being our favourite. The vegetarian moussaka and the baked eggplants where the best food we ate all holiday.

We decided to do a day tour to the nearby island of Ithaca, travelling with Sami Star II. This included two swim stops in secluded bays, only accessible by boat, and also a visit to Vathi for a walk around and Kioni for lunch. Both of these villages where beautiful.

The buildings in Vathi are beautifully coloured, all bright or pastel.

After visiting Melissani Cave, we decided to walk back to Sami, through Karavamylos. We stopped for lunch by the lake, which is made up of water from the nearby cave.

Antisamos Beach is in a horseshoe bay, with tavernas and water activities. A long twisting road around the mountains is the only way to access this glorious beach. It is covered in white stones that glisten under the water, and a small array of fish swim close to shore. It is a great place to snorkel. There are tavernas that offer free sun beds, drinks and snacks.

I would recommend Sami as a great spot for a holiday, and also recommend hiring a car to get around as this would give you more freedom during your stay. I was only there a week, so it wasn't a complete necessary for me and my travel companion.

Everyone is very friendly in Sami, and the food is amazing. I couldn't get enough of the traditional Greek cuisine.

NORWICH'S SECRET GARDEN | PHOTO DIARY

Hey everyone!

Living in Norwich i'm lucky enough to have a whole array of different trips and sights to see, but i feel as though not many people know about the wonder that is Plantation Gardens. Nestled within walking distance from the city centre and surrounded by homes. This is what i'd describe as the equivalent to Botanical Gardens, which you find in most cities. In fact if you search for Norwich's Botanical Gardens this is what you'll find.

To locals it's known as The Secret Garden, and that it is. It's a Grade II English Heritage site and includes beautiful lawns, flower beds, a bridge, fountain and many benches to sit and admire the scenery. Built and then abandoned for many years, it took a team of people to restore the gardens to how they once where.

There is a small donation fee upon entering, and throughout the year there are different events that take place within the gardens. If you live in Norwich and haven't been yet, or are visiting and would like more information on where to find this magical place then please click here.

This time of year when all the flowers are in full bloom, it is wonderful to sit and relax. Read a book, or a catch up with friends. Or even just a quick walk around. Immediately next door is the St John The Baptist Cathdral which i have already written and done a photo diary of here. What i didn't mention is that there is a cafe called The Narthex, which does very reasonable priced food and drink, and therefore the perfect place to refresh before heading into the city centre for some good old shopping.

ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CATHEDRAL | PHOTO DIARY

Hello everyone!

A few weeks ago my work had our SS17 launch night, and happened to be on the grounds of St John the Baptist Cathedral, in Norwich. They were running tours to the top of the cathedral, that offer panoramic views of our lovely city. What made it even better was that we finally had some sunshine!

I took my camera with me, of course, and managed to get some photos of the grounds and views from the top.

Now, i didn't take any photos of our ascent to the top, purely because i needed both my hands to hold on, for what felt like dear life!

I'm not the best at heights, i'll do it because i love the views, but i can't help myself but think about people falling over the edge if they get too close. We walked up a steep staircase, narrow at times. I looked purely at my feet, neither looking up or down. I didn't want to see that we weren't there yet, nor did i want to see how far from the ground we were.

The views from the top were amazing and well worth the fear of falling, you could see for miles!

I've lived in Norwich my whole life, and never have i been able to get a view like this one. There are some places around with a decent view, but nothing so central and uninterrupted as this was.

I definitely recommend a visit to this cathedral. One of many cathedrals, churches and chapels that we have in Norfolk! On site is a cafe that services, drinks, cakes and lunch. The gardens are full of beautiful flowers, and only a short walk from the centre of Norwich. For more information click here.
