A LONG WEEKEND IN AMSTERDAM | PHOTO DIARY

Hey everyone!

I recently made a trip to Amsterdam, officially now one of my favourite places I've visited.

We flew on a Friday from our local airport of Norwich. The flight lasted 30 minutes, with an additional 20 minutes to taxi the plane from the runway to Schipol Airport. Officially the easiest and quickest flight I have ever been on, which makes weekends away in Amsterdam a great place to escape to.

We stayed in a recently opened hotel called Mr. Jordaan. This is based in the Jordaan area of Amsterdam, and literally around the corner from Anne Frank Huis. With a short 10 minute walk to Central Station.

On the first day we landed early evening, so settled down for an hour and headed straight out for food. We visited a little place called Mr Jacketz, which sold only baked potatoes and salads, amazing! We took a different way home and had our first taste of the canals! They're beautiful in both daylight and when they are lit up by the street lamps and houses at night.

I won't go into too much detail on what we did, and let the photos do the talking, but here's a very quick summary of the places we visited, including: Van Gogh Museum and Modern Art Museum, Diamond Museum, Flower Market, Boat Tour, Shopping and a Food Market.

We weren't able to visit the Anne Frak Huis as people start queuing from early on in the morning, and as we were a group of nine it was harder to get tickets.

I have added some of my favourite photos from the trip, which mostly consist of the canals!

As you can see, it's a beautiful place! I'm already planning my next trip!

NORWICH'S SECRET GARDEN | PHOTO DIARY

Hey everyone!

Living in Norwich i'm lucky enough to have a whole array of different trips and sights to see, but i feel as though not many people know about the wonder that is Plantation Gardens. Nestled within walking distance from the city centre and surrounded by homes. This is what i'd describe as the equivalent to Botanical Gardens, which you find in most cities. In fact if you search for Norwich's Botanical Gardens this is what you'll find.

To locals it's known as The Secret Garden, and that it is. It's a Grade II English Heritage site and includes beautiful lawns, flower beds, a bridge, fountain and many benches to sit and admire the scenery. Built and then abandoned for many years, it took a team of people to restore the gardens to how they once where.

There is a small donation fee upon entering, and throughout the year there are different events that take place within the gardens. If you live in Norwich and haven't been yet, or are visiting and would like more information on where to find this magical place then please click here

This time of year when all the flowers are in full bloom, it is wonderful to sit and relax. Read a book, or a catch up with friends. Or even just a quick walk around. Immediately next door is the St John The Baptist Cathdral which i have already written and done a photo diary of here. What i didn't mention is that there is a cafe called The Narthex, which does very reasonable priced food and drink, and therefore the perfect place to refresh before heading into the city centre for some good old shopping.
